Lost between Desert and Fog

In three weeks our 2nd schoolyear will be finished. And I think after all these stressful days before the last show in 2 weeks, we'll surely need holidays.
As my class and I are diligently sewing on our outfits, the fashion show is coming up! The students of the 3rd year gave us the exercise to separate our class into two groups and do outfits for the topic "Desert and Fog" .
And therefore we'll transform ourselves into mysterious creatures out of the hot and dry desert and a lonely misty forest.
The high contrast between the funereal desert group and the silent fog group, in which I am, will be fantastic.

However, we have another exercise as well, which is an experimental project in which we have to interpret the topic "time". The interesting thing about this exercise is that we aren't allowed to sew a normal outfit. As a result we deicided not to use textiles

All in all I think it'll be another great fashion show for our school- as usual.
And you really should be fascinated by the final collection from the 3rd year!

Thank you,
Hannah

Summer’s calling!

As we enjoy the first sunny days of spring I can’t wait for summer to come. Magazines, Fashionblogs and of course all the designers are already going crazy for the upcoming summer trends. I mean, of course we should be trendless and have our own ideas. But as we all know- we can’t do anything against getting influenced by them.
So here are the Top 3 Spring/Summertrends 2011:

     Roberto Cavalli
Trend 1 : Big Flower Prints; after last years small flower prints we surprisingly get Flower Prints again. The only change: the flowers are big. Wow- Who would have thought. But again, it’s just beautiful.

Ralph Lauren
Trend 2: Clean. Cleaner. White. I was always against wearing white. And I think I won’t change my opinion, even though it looks great on other people and on the catwalk. So lucky for those who look good in white. And it just makes you look a little bit more tanned in summer!

Rick Owens
Trend 3: Black. Black? Are they kidding me? So I saved the best for last. Black is always in fashion and beautiful. It’s more like a full time trend. You can never do anything wrong wearing it, so it’s kind of funny the fashion gurus even mention it. You don’t need to mention black. It’s just timeless and classy.

In the end we can all say that there aren’t any new trends this year. It’s just the same as every year with small changes. So get inspired by them and wear it your way. It’ll surely look great.

fashion week paris 2011

The greatest fashion houses presented their collections on the  Fashion Week in Paris from January 24th up to 27th.
With Chanel, Dior and Jean Paul Gaultier, of course the inevitable stars of the French fashion industry were present.
But the Fashion Week in Paris 2011 also welcomed designers less known to the wider audience like Bouchra JarrarAdeline André or Rabih Kayrouz.

The fashion week began with a scandal. John Galliano the chief designer of Dior was fired a few days before his own show. His show was presented without him, a splendid collection of high-quality silk which was coverd with a fine tulle.

The show of Karl Lagerfeld was also very remarkable for Channel. He presented a collection made of bright materials which shimmered very much. He also combined exclusive flat shoes for an unmistakably pure picture.

However, Giorgio Armani lined his collection up very futuristically and worked mainly with shiny fabrics while the models were wearing a chrome plated headgear. Spaicy as hell!

Only two weeks for a perfect draped evening dress: Mission

Impossible???

Exactly this exercise was set for us.
Finding a concept, finding our design, finding matching colours, finding a cool choreography which is possible to do in circa  two weeks, and we did it.

To start with everybody chose their own perfect colour. We tried to find as many different colours as we could. On this occasion we decided to take chiffon as drapery for the whole class for continuity and the right effect.

Later we create the design for our evening dresses. Everybody gave the design their own character.Whether long or short, wide or narrow, provocative or elegant. We tried to put our drapery to different places and everybody introduced their own sort of drapery.

Two weeks before the fashion show started we began to sew the complex dresses. It was tight, but on the last day everyone was ready, but only with a lot of overtime and hard work were we able to do this. It wasn`t easy but I think the results reflect everyone's personality really well.

Hello again:)

Hello everyone!
Imagine you've found the perfect outfit for today, but then you realize that you haven't thought of you're shoes!

So here's my advice for you:

My favourite shoes! These shoes are comfortable, you can wear them with each outfit and throughout the year and you can buy them in nearly every colour - converse chucks.

I like the design, because it`s sporty and stylish too. When you're late you can run with these shoes and your feet wouldn't hurt so much. What's more I like that you can change the laces and I have drawn a picture on my shoes too. You can be totally creative with chucks :).

I would like to tell you something about the history of these shoes.

The founder Marquis M. Converse decided to start a rubber shoe company in 1908. One year later the first converse shoes were made. Basketballplayer Charles Hollis Taylor was the answer generator of the Chuck Taylor All Star shoes in 1923. That's also the reason why you can say
Chuck's.
Today the shoes aren't just a sports shoe, anyone can wear them and you can find them in skate fashion and as well as in the hiphop scene.

The Hero- Jason

Theatrical project " looking for heroes " from Peter Kirschke. We the students from the Akademie für Kommunikation were involved in this project. Each student had to sew a dress for an actor.

Everyone had chosen their actors.I had the actor Ati Ayaz. He should change from an Argonaut to Jason. I have shown drawings of mine to the director. He liked the change from Argonaut to Jason a lot       .
The ordered materials arrived. To represent the Argonauts, we had everything red white striped fabric. I took the measurements of Ati Ayaz and began cutting. The actor came for fitting and some little things were changed. Within ten days it was time for the performance....

I think it was worthwhile taking part in this project because not only have we learnt to work quickly, we have also learnt to work under pressure and to deadlines.

All the best,

Hello everybody!

Now I will tell you something about our theatre project. At the beginning nobody had a clue what they should be doing partly because the director, Mr Kirschke, wasn´t sure either! So because of this, we could only start the project just two weeks before the first show! It was really difficult because Mr Kirschke wanted the costumes to be to change into another costume during the show but the costumes weren´t allowed to complex and had to look modern, sporty and they must be as simple as possible.

Last but not least - the fake-blood (a mix of beetroot) had to be washed out of the material of the costumes. So, it was a little bit difficult to realize all the criteria, but it was good practice and experience for us, which could really be helpful. And at the end the costumes were all finished and Mr Kirschke was happy and most of the artists as well.

To be honest, I´m really happy that my costume is finished and I hope that it will survive all the stages of the washing program. (-:
