The Hero- Jason

Theatrical project " looking for heroes " from Peter Kirschke. We the students from the Akademie für Kommunikation were involved in this project. Each student had to sew a dress for an actor.

Everyone had chosen their actors.I had the actor Ati Ayaz. He should change from an Argonaut to Jason. I have shown drawings of mine to the director. He liked the change from Argonaut to Jason a lot       .
The ordered materials arrived. To represent the Argonauts, we had everything red white striped fabric. I took the measurements of Ati Ayaz and began cutting. The actor came for fitting and some little things were changed. Within ten days it was time for the performance....

I think it was worthwhile taking part in this project because not only have we learnt to work quickly, we have also learnt to work under pressure and to deadlines.

All the best,

Hello everybody!

Now I will tell you something about our theatre project. At the beginning nobody had a clue what they should be doing partly because the director, Mr Kirschke, wasn´t sure either! So because of this, we could only start the project just two weeks before the first show! It was really difficult because Mr Kirschke wanted the costumes to be to change into another costume during the show but the costumes weren´t allowed to complex and had to look modern, sporty and they must be as simple as possible.

Last but not least - the fake-blood (a mix of beetroot) had to be washed out of the material of the costumes. So, it was a little bit difficult to realize all the criteria, but it was good practice and experience for us, which could really be helpful. And at the end the costumes were all finished and Mr Kirschke was happy and most of the artists as well.

To be honest, I´m really happy that my costume is finished and I hope that it will survive all the stages of the washing program. (-:

King Pelias

While we had to do the outfits for the theater I was glad to have an argonaut who turns into a king!

The material for the king and the argonaut wasn´t as good as I expected. In the end I did my best and created a really good suit for both the argonaut and the king.

The argonaut suit has red and white stripes and brown pants. The change from an argonaut into a king happens at only one point, at the top of the suit are two buttons which keep the cape inside the top. The cape which is shiny blue falls down after the buttons are open..

It wasn´t difficult at all. I had to measure with people I´ve never seen in my life but it was okay because my actor was really easy to deal with.

In my opinion I´m happy. I helped some actors who had never acted and I had a lot of fun experiences!

The development of the creation to the wearable outfit

To find a good design and idea I asked the producer of Argo KF about his vision. He wanted to have basic and sporty clothes which were changeable. We were all able to transform his ideas into good creations. The challenge mainly was to understand his vision.

The next step after creating a design was to look for suitable material. This was a problem because the producer wanted to use fake blood made out of beetroot juice. So the fake blood has to be removable from the material. But we fond suitable drapery for our design. I chose drapery in grey, dark red and a drapery with red and white stripes. Everyone had to add the striped material to the design. I decided to use it for the tanktop.

I produced my creation quite fast. After six days my costume for the actress was finished. On holiday I made some little corrections and improvements with gold cords and red satin strap. When I was ready the actress came for the last fitting and then the costumes were sent to the producer and the opening night started. We received a lot of praise and ereryone was pleased.
